Today Rhun ap Iorwerth, Assembly Member for Ynys Môn, asked the First Minister about the decision of a community to not be connected under the Superfast Cymru programme. As I mentioned on social media yesterday I have been receiving correspondence from constituents in Conwy and across North Wales about the ‘super slow’ broadband speeds we have.
Once again this is evidence of North Wales being neglected by the Labour-led Welsh Government. I have personal experience with this painstakingly-slow ‘super fast broadband’. The Welsh Government has been very slow to tackle this issue, so much so that superfast broadband technology has been upgraded twice; with the introduction of fibre optic broadband and hyperoptic broadband, which is 128x the speed of what the Welsh Government is currently rolling out.
When will the Welsh Government start working in 2016? I believe that all new build homes in Wales should have FTTP (Fibre-to-the-Premise) connections and we need to start rolling this technology to the rest of Wales. What do you think?
