I think we should welcome news that Severn Trent intends to invest £3bn in North Wales following the purchase of Dee Valley Water and hold them to account on that promise. Rather than disrupt or stand against the growth of business, it is important we celebrate and support it. However, it is important that almost 200 jobs are kept in the region and that Severn Trent exhibits an outlook that seeks to create further employment, not reduce it or move it across the border.

By and large expansion and investment are good for the economy, but any efforts to reduce services or capacity following the takeover, or any price rises, should be challenged strongly by elected officials in the region who have a responsibility to ensure that best working practice is adhered to by companies operating in their constituencies.

I will be monitoring the continuing process as it unfolds and will respond to any concerns constituents may have about the recent announcement.
