Yesterday, at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, a member of team attended a meeting held by Eurogroup for Animals.

I was shocked by the reports of 100 puppies being intercepted at Holyhead Port last November and since then I have been thinking about what we can to do prevent the illegal and cruel trafficking of animals and pets.

The Intergroup spoke about the need for EU-wide legislative frameworks and others spoke about the need for better education on animal welfare issues.

What do you think can be done to stop this cruel practice? Do we need to go down the regulatory route, or do we simply need better education and awareness of malpractice?

My team is currently compiling a report and we will be releasing this report and our key findings over the coming months.
