After 15 years it is with great sadness that I am resigning my UKIP membership. Below is my full resignation letter.
I have not left UKIP, UKIP has left me.
The party I joined was focused on getting the UK out of the EU. At this crucial point of the Brexit negotiations, the party is now giving ammunition to the Remainers by insisting on this association with Tommy Robinson, and by holding an ill-judged march just two days before Parliament votes on the Government’s Brexit deal.
I can no longer belong to a party that has switched its primary focus from Brexit, to a foolish pursuit against Islam and the promotion of Tommy Robinson (who is neither a Brexiteer, nor a member of UKIP).
For over 15 years I have fought for Brexit and I believed the legacy of my colleagues and I would be that we got a referendum and we won it. All the good work we have done will be forgotten and all people will remember now is UKIP’s association with Tommy Robinson.
26,000 members deserve a party committed to getting Brexit. 17.4 million people all over the country deserve a party committed to delivering Brexit and now more than ever Britain needs a strong opposition voice to fight a political class so intent on betraying the Referendum result.
Unfortunately, UKIP is not doing any of the above.
UKIP has betrayed its members, Brexiteers and the British people.
