As part of his 2016 Welsh Election Study Roger Scully conducted an MEP name recognition survey. In this survey, Nathan Gill MEP was the most recognised MEP in Wales, closely followed by fictitious Welsh MEP ‘Elwyn Davies’.

You can see the full study here.

Nathan Gill MEP said “in a political market place that’s stuffed with elected members, in Westminster, in Cardiff and in Brussels, it’s hardly surprising that those whose office is abroad are the least recognised. I’ve put hours into connecting with the electorate so I’m pleased to see some of that rubbing off, but this just goes to show just how remote people think the European Parliament is, which is a terrible thing for democracy and one of the many reasons why it’s a great thing we are leaving.”
