“I welcome this long overdue infrastructure investment; transport and digital infrastructure are crucial to the future development of the North Wales economy.

However, as a third Menai Strait crossing could cost up to £200 million, I don’t believe it to be the right way forward to ease rush hour problems. Investment in public transport; including railway electrification and the introduction of a Park and Ride system, would help ease congestion by taking people off the A55.

For me, the A55 is a priority,, as I was proud to have been elected as a Member of the Welsh Assembly for North Wales on a manifesto that planned to develop the A55. I believe that the long over due development of the A55 is key to strengthening the North Wales economy, as the A55 is the main link between Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe.”
