“Today I met with the Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure, Ken Skates AM. We met on site to discuss the potential 3rd crossing on the Menai and the wider transport infrastructure in the North Wales region.

I’m grateful to the Cabinet Secretary for taking the time to listen to local residents’ views on the prospect of third crossing in what was a very constructive meeting.

With consultation now beginning it’s vital that local residents’ views are taken into consideration and we do all that we can to protect the natural beauty Anglesey has to offer.

A third Menai Strait crossing could cost up to £200million, but before we spend such vast amounts of public money, we should look at every viable alternative to rush hour problems and traffic management.

Investment in public transport, including electrifying the railway, introducing a park and ride service and other more creative options, will also help improve the traffic flow, once it gets off the Island and onto the A55.”
